A poster of the above diagram will be displayed in all Spalding classrooms by the end of the Spring 2019 semester. We hope you can use this as a visual aid when you discuss the writing process with your students. While the writing process is individual to each writer, teaching a progression of phases that is consistent across the curriculum helps to:

 

  • encourage metacognition
  • scaffold the writing process
  • promote peer review practices
  • increase skill transfer from course to course.
