About Accreditation

Spalding University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, bachelor, master, specialist, and doctoral level degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404-679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of Spalding University.

ASOT’s OTD entry-level program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) (http://www.acoteonline.org) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (www.aota.org), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. ACOTE telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA. ASOT graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) (www.nbcot.org). After successful completion of this exam, the graduate is credentialed to use the title of Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, most states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. In order to be eligible to sit for the NBCOT examination and become licensed in the state, an individual must graduate with a master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited program.

Additional information regarding occupational therapy practice in Kentucky may be obtained from the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association (www.kotaweb.org) or the Kentucky Board of Licensure in Occupational Therapy (http://bot.ky.gov/).
