About ASOT

About the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy

The Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy (ASOT) is a doctoral level program offered within the Kosair Charities’ College of Health and Natural Science at Spalding University in Louisville, KY. ASOT is one of only three graduate degree occupational therapy programs in the Commonwealth of KY. Currently, ASOT is a thirty (36) month program that admits students once a year (August).  ASOT utilizes the unique course structure whereby classes are completed during trimesters as opposed to traditional semesters. Students graduate in August each year (depending on date of admission) and will have earned an Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) degree at the completion of the program.

In appreciation of its beginning, this program began as a baccalaureate degree program within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences in 1995 and admitted its first class of occupational therapy students in January, 1997. In recognition of the outstanding personal and financial support of the Occupational Therapy Program by Dr. S. Pearson Auerbach and his family, this program was named the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy in March, 2000. Effective January 2001, the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy at Spalding University began offering a combined BS/MS degree.

ASOT Mission Statement
The Occupational Therapy Doctoral program, as part of The Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy, embraces time’s essential flow through the River of Occupation by creating compassionate occupational therapy leaders who meet the occupational needs of society through advocacy, service, and the promotion of peace and justice.
