Using the Fieldwork Experience Assessment Tool (FEAT)
To facilitate a rewarding fieldwork experience for all stakeholders, many fieldwork agencies use the Fieldwork Experence Assessment Tool (FEAT). This tool carefully examines the balance between the fieldwork environment, the Fieldwork Educator, and the occupational therapy student. Students have reported this tool helps them to provide throrough, organized input to the Fieldwork Educator about their learning experiences, and Fieldwork Educators have reported the information on this tool helps with communication and modification of learning experiences. This tool is most commonly used at midterm, however portions of this tool could be used for documenting quarterly progression (end of weeks 3, 6, and 9), or at final evaluation in place of the commonly used Student Evaluation of the Fieldwork Experience.
