ASOT OTD Student Handbook: Fieldwork

This FW handbook is a part of the overall ASOT OTD Program Student Handbook

OT 745, OT 755, OT 765, AND OT 775 LEVEL I FW COURSE OBJECTIVES LINKED TO ACOTE STANDARDS

The Level I Fieldwork Course Objectives are designed to provide practice experiences for enabling the student to establish the developmental foundation for acquiring professional skills in preparation for Level II Fieldwork and beyond. These course objectives align with specific ACOTE Standards and the ASOT OTD Curriculum Threads, as illustrated in the table below. Please select their corresponding links in the table below to review these and other materials, as needed.

These general objectives have been established to assist the student and the Fieldwork Educator in facilitating the student’s learning (ACOTE Standards C.1.1., C.1.2., and C.1.3.). Specific assignments and evaluation items have been established by the Academic Fieldwork Director for student completion in the respective Level I Fieldwork course syllabus. The fieldwork course with bold and underlined font is the primary course responsible for meeting the objective, but many of the objectives will be met in all Level I Fieldwork courses due to the nature of the experiences.

Each fieldwork agency will have its own student behavioral objectives specific to its setting to guide student progression during the Level I Fieldwork experience. Students on fieldwork are encouraged to assist with site-specific objective modification as needed with the supervision and approval of his/her Fieldwork Educator. Each fieldwork agency may assign student duties and projects that are determined by the Fieldwork Educators at the agency to be beneficial for the student’s learning as a part of Level I Fieldwork and to the benefit of the setting.
